Long Riders Gear Facebook fan, Kaity Elliot posted the above photo of Sonny making "pony angels" in the freshly fallen snow. Sonny is retired now at 20 years old but has 425 miles of competition in NATRC, 375 miles in AERC, and the Supreme Register of Merit in his breed registry (POA). Thank you, Kaity & Sonny for making our holidays a little brighter!

Include a coupon for "home alone time" with a jar of luxurious Epona Rider’s Reward Mineral Bath Salts.
Coax the kids into their daily duties with the Hay Handler for chore time – let ‘em add some bling with fabric paint/markers.
Embellish a Calendar with notes, doodles, words of encouragement and some reminders for the recipient to pamper or take time out for his/her self throughout the year.
Buy cheap stockings for barn buddies, apply their horse's name with glue n' glitter. Fill the stockings with treats such as carrots, peppermints, and Horse Cookies.
Lay t-shirts on the ground, put your horse's clean hooves in some fabric paint and set the foot down on the t-shirt. When you have several hoof prints all over the t-shirt you can write a message like, “My horse walks all over me!”
Horse Toy #1 - Hang a gallon plastic milk container by its handle from the center of the stall ceiling, or other appropriate location, and put some alfalfa pellets inside. The sound of the pellets moving around when the horse bounces and swings the jug with its nose seems to entertain them. Be prepared for a horse who will have many hours of fun bouncing and pushing its new toy in an effort to dump pellets out of the open top.
Horse Toy #2 - Inexpensive and durable! Use a large red plastic gasoline can (unused of course) and remove all caps. Then place some treats or dried apple pieces inside and turn your horse loose with his new toy for hours of entertainment, exercise, and engagement. Fun entertainment for the horse-owner too!
Especially for boarders - hang exposed horsey holiday cards, with your personal greeting to horse and owner, on each stall door with ribbon (out of reach from curious lips) for a warm festive feeling around the barn.
New Wrapping Ideas - Earth Friendly & Fun!
Kerrits has allowed us to share some of their eco-friendly gift wrapping tips with our readers. We've added our own touches to this useful list for your enjoyment.
Kerrits makes the fabulous windproof, waterproof Kerrits Rain Coat for dry and comfy riding on those stormy days.
Now for the equine flavored, earth-friendly tips!
Recycle old magazines and horse calendars for wrapping paper.
If it's possible, wrap with part of the gift. For example, if buying a horse blanket, wrap it around itself and tie it up with a bow - other smaller items can be inserted inside.
Instead of a gift basket, make a gift bucket for horse or rider.
If you use traditional wrapping paper, try paper that is made from recycled paper.
If you've kept old Christmas cards from years past, cut them up with scalloped scissors, use a glue stick and add them to any of the reusable papers mentioned above.
Create a craft area for the kids, complete with paper grocery shopping bags, a few horsey stamps, photos, clippings, glue sticks and glitter. These thought-filled bags will make gifts of themselves!
If involved with a Pony Club, 4-H or non-profit, find out if you can provide gift wrapping services for a local business. A nominal fee or donation can go directly to the organization.
Wrap a horsey ornament in money as a fun way to assist kids (real ones and adult ones) in saving for their lessons, a new saddle, etc.
